Although it’s not a Cajon here’s a video of another bit of hand percussion I’ve been playing with. It’s called a Hapi drum. This one is a Hapi Slim in the scale of F Major. The next challenge is to figure out how to play this and the Cajon together.
Here’s a simple method of using an Egg Shaker with the Cajon Drum to add a bit of extra percussion.
There is plenty of debate about how best to mic a the Cajon. A room mic will have more ambiance, a close mic next to the bass hole will pick up the boom but one at the front will have more slap. Experimentation is needed to help find the sound you are looking for.
