Project 1 – Cajon Drum – Single Post Update

New Cajon DVD from DG
Leading Cajon maker DG have recently anounced their new DVD called Cajon Power. Featuring Marco Fadda the DVD covers historical and modern rhythms. Commentary is available in many languages which is great for an international audience. For a video preview check below:

Winter Namm 2010
With a lot of updates in 2009 the 2010 Namm show had little Cajon news. Most interesting was a new Cajon from Peal which is said to feature a bass port.
Called the Boom Box Cajon the fiberglass construction and special port is said to deliver super low bass tones. Check it out here.
Project 2 – Lap Cajon – Updated

For my next project I decided to make a lap sized cajon. I’d seen a smaller flatter Cajon in Cuba which looked pretty handy and I’m aware that Meinl make a good looking Bongo Cajon.
Using a Tambourine with a Cajon
Here’s a clip of an easy way to use a tambourine with a Cajon for some extra percussion sounds. The tambourine comes in around halfway through.
