Have looked at drum plans which are excellent to get me started.
What I am not sure is if the snare strings actually touch the front board that you play on. Are they ment to touch?
What strings do you use? Are they guitar strings and if so which string?

Thanks for the comment. The snares do touch the front face. I used snare wires from a snare drum rather than guitar strings. Cajon drums do use guitar strings for sound as well, you will need to have them touch the front to give the buzz sound. Good luck with building your Cajon.
Thanks Keith for the great plans. I just printed them and will begin building this weekend. It was good to read that old guitar strings will work. I Co-host an open mic at a local coffee shop and have seen guys with these home made drums and they really sond just like a drum set. Looks like great fun. Is ther a way to get any sort of cymbal sound with this?

Hi chaps, I’ve had my De Gregorio cajon since christmas and it’s well and truley taken the place of the bongos I was playing in the band, but calamity has struck. String has broken and I’m unsure of where to start taking it apart to fix it and perhaps add a few more strings. Obviously the screws around the outside are the way in but in which order and what’s to look out for? If any one can help I’d be grateful as We’ve a few gigs coming up
